Our story
Cannabis is believed to be introduced in Ghana by veterans retuning from India and Burma after the second world war. However, it is believed that Sierra Leonean immigrants and sailors also play roles in propagation and commercialization of cannabis throughout British West Africa (Mensah and Adu-Gyamfi, 2019) Noticing the havoc wrecked on the lives of the ex-servicemen and their allies, the state took steps to regulate cannabis in all forms by passing the Pharmacy and Drugs Act 1961 (Act 64). Agro-CannCom started in January 2024 as an agricultural cannabis community. The goal of this community is to change the mindset of Ghanaians by providing relevant information about the growing cannabis industry in Ghana. Agro-CannCom will eventually become the main information dissemination and education hub for the cannabis industry in Ghana. After the announcement of the possible legalization of medical cannabis in Ghana, the negative public outcry from citizens showed a lack of knowledge about the crop and its benefits. To change this negative outcry is the brain behind the formation of Agro-CannCom.
